Training initially as a lawyer, and specialising in employment and discrimination law, Anita managed the Legal Unit for Birmingham Citizens Advice Bureau and later ran the Birmingham office of the Women’s Legal Defence Fund. Working for over 20 years in further and higher education, she delivered professional and management development programmes for both public and private sector organisations.
Anita designed and ran leadership development programmes and project management courses for managers in the public, private and voluntary sectors.
Gaining an MSc in Training at Leicester University in 1999, and Anita is currently researching the Work Life Balance issue for older workers in the public sector. Anita’s PhD research has highlighted the need to help employers to get the best from their older workers rather than leaving them to drift into retirement. This has led to the creation of a programme called Ways Forward for Older Workers. The over 50s can be just as productive and quick to learn, so we now offer a number of programmes to help younger managers and supervisors to understand and motivate their older team members.
